CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC Overview
- Central African Republic is a land locked country in the centre of Africa that borders Cameroon, Chad, South Sudan, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo.
- The government system is a republic with the President being the chief of state and the prime minister is the head of the government.
- The country is vast and flat with scattered hills in the Northeast and Southwest which currently has a traditional economic system in which subsistence agriculture and forestry remain the backbone of the economy.
- The two main languages are French and Sangho, the country has a GDP per capita of $945 reflecting the need for economic growth, the economy is currently split between agriculture 43.2%, services 40.8%, industry 16%.
- The country is vast covering 622,844 sq. km. and it is sparsely populated with only 5,400,000 inhabitants, the capital city is Bangui which has a population of 889,231.
